Aurea Foundation

About Us

The Aurea Foundation is a charitable foundation established in 2006 by Peter and Melanie Munk to support Canadian institutions involved in the study and development of public policy.

With the establishment of the Aurea Foundation granting program, the Foundation hopes to facilitate free and bold exchanges in the marketplace of ideas to the benefit of all Canadians.

The Aurea Foundation shall give special attention to the study of issues relating to the political and economic foundations of freedom, the strengthening of the free market system, the protection and enhancement of democratic values, human rights and human dignity, and the role of responsible citizenship.

The Aurea Foundation will make grants to qualified charitable institutions to fund studies, projects, symposia, debates and awards. In exceptional cases, the Aurea Foundation will provide core funding and multi-year support, subject to annual review.
