Aurea Foundation
Application Guidelines
Qualified charitable organizations or researchers affiliated with charitable organizations may submit a LETTER OF INTENT containing a short outline of the project or purpose for which a grant is being sought. The letter of intent should include an itemized budget for all project management and overhead costs and a brief description of the applying or affiliated charitable institution's mission and goals.
LETTERS OF INTENT should be submitted by email to info@aureafoundation.com
Don't call us; we'll call you. The Aurea Foundation will review all proposed submissions but will not respond to LETTERS OF INTENT. The Foundation will contact organizations if it has any queries or if there is interest in inviting a full grant application.
Invited applicants will be asked to submit a full APPLICATION FOR SUPPORT, which will be provided by staff. Such invitations do not, however, assure that an application will be successful.
Grant decisions are made at two meetings of the Board of the Aurea Foundation each year.
Cycles for Grant Consideration

Core Funding
As a rule, Aurea will not provide core funding to organizations. Possible exceptions include:
- A newly created organization that addresses one or more priority areas of interest to the Aurea Foundation that requires start-up support or needs to leverage support from other potential funders;
- An existing organization that addresses one or more priority areas of interest to Aurea, whose sources of funding have been withdrawn/reduced;
- An existing organization that wants to expand its activities to a public policy area of interest to the Aurea Foundation.
Multi-Year Funding
As a rule, Aurea will not commit to multi-year funding of any project. However, if a grantee notifies Aurea that it intends to re-apply in a second or subsequent year for a project, the Board may, at its discretion, invite the grantee to do so. Please note that such an invitation does not assure continued support for a project. It indicates only that the Board will consider supporting it.
To reduce paperwork and administrative costs, Aurea will communicate electronically whenever possible and engage only in correspondence it regards as necessary. The Board does not, as a rule, give reasons for its funding decisions. Aurea is grateful for the opportunity to participate in the study and debate of public affairs and welcomes the communications and suggestions of its grantees and applicants even if it cannot undertake to respond to all.
